Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

All seems to be fine now, Cas.

My cheap earplugs have just been delivered by that nice Amazon chap (no, not Jeff!) so I’m going to head off for the early swim tomorrow and see how they work. They don’t feel like they’ll stay in my ears but we’ll see.

Just back having completed 2.5k in the pool.

Unfortunately the earplugs didn’t get past the first 200. One of them fell out and I didn’t notice until I finished that first bit, so I took the other one out and carried on with “naked ears”.😱

To make it worse I then spent the rest of my swim spotting the earplug on the pool bottom as I swam over it and thinking “I’ll get it when I’m done.”

Then when I was done I couldn’t find it!

I’d be more bothered by this loss if it hadn’t obviously been a useless bit of kit if it can’t stay in my ear for more than a minute or two!

Oh that's a bit rubbish. From the reviews of various plugs it does sound like it can be a bit trial and error getting ones that work for you.

Do you wear a swim cap? That might help hold them in.

I don't wear a swim cap, CasB. Never have. Not enough hair left to worry about it really.

The pack I got came with 2 pairs so I'll try the other ones when I next swim (probably at the weekend) and see if that works better and stays in but if not I might try another make off of that Amazon.

And if that doesn't work I'll probably just carry on without them. I've been swimming a couple of times a week for 18 months or so and this is the first time I've had a problem so maybe I shouldn't worry too much.

Managed to get a wide lane to myself for part of my swim :-) So I was able to do a few drills without getting in anyone's way. Did just over 1km with about 200m non-stop. Really hungry afterwards, virtually inhaled some toast and coffee when I got home!

swim toast tea :-)

Busier than I've seen it at the late night session yesterday, forced me into doing some faster paced stuff, but things are progressing nicely. Managed 1400m at about 1:46/100 pace, so things are improving.
