I wouldn't go out of my way for 1 point, I'd target rubies and diamonds if possible, or someone else's watered flower chain - that helps both of you then.

Went out and back on the valley road, thinking I'd plant double the flowers I did... I circled around at the turning point to avoid putting the return flowers on top of the out flowers. Yet, no double flowers... Can you not plant flowers twice on an out and back route?

You definitely can plant on an out and back, I do it quite a lot. Did you inadvertently put your 0.5 mile points in the same eighty metre circle in each direction?

There’s not a lot in this area Alpenrose. Just me. I mainly do target my bug and then any gems worth getting, not the green ones which I just leave to get picked up if I’m passing.

Yes you can, provided the spot is not already occupied by another marker. It might be that your circling around at the turning point wasn't large enough to separate the flower planting points. I find that I need them to be at least 0.05 mile apart.
Flowers don't get planted at exactly the 0.5 and 1.0 marks, they "snap" to nearest point on an unseen grid, hence the arrangement of flowers (and other markers) in a grid pattern of straight horizontal and vertical lines.

Just did a short walk 1.3 miles out and back with a virtual mile in the middle. Planted only 4 flowers but watered 270 I'm impressed
Be out on another route soon just to get some more squares
