I got it working (sort of) on my Windows 10 PC after 2 hours this morning involving uninstalling and reinstalling Java, ensuring that my browsers (Firefox, Chrome and Edge) had Javascript add-ons enabled, and clearing caches. The FP map was then working on Firefox and Edge but not Chrome.
Then sometime this afternoon the FP map zooming and panning stopped working on all the browsers.
Worked alright on my android tablet using Samsung Internet early afternoon, but I haven't tried the tablet since then.

I'm pretty sure it must be a bug in my code folks.

If you open the javascript console as you view the map, it should start spewing out error messages as soon as it goes wrong. I've tried to replicate it here, but no luck so far.

Here's how to switch on the Javascript console in various browsers:

Firefox: Menu Bar > Tools > Web Developer > Web Console

Chrome: View> Developer>Developer Tools

Safari: Safari Menu > Preferences > Advanced > Checkbox "Show Develop Menu" > Develop Menu > Show Error Console

Fetch, this has probably been asked before, but might there ever be an option to have an aerial photo option to switch to from the map? Reason being that out in the sticks where there the detail on the map is limited, it would be helpful to be able to see exactly which hedge line or tree etc. marks the point I’m trying to get close enough to. Also to see if there is any kind of path or track not shown on the map, that could get me to where I need to be.

Martin, you can use the Fetchpoint layer in the route planner to do that for the gems and bugs etc

Fetch, would putting the circle edge onto the route planner be possible if what Martin has asked for isn't?

Martin, Fetch used to use Google maps until they started charging an arm and a leg a couple of years ago. It was possible then to use satellite but the current mapping doesn't support this imaging.

Martin,
An alternative is to add some detail to the map. Open Source Mapping allows it. I have logged an issue or two with OSM, but not changed any maps. Similarly, I've logged issues with Google maps. They do revise them, but with OSM you can do it yourself.

Thanks Rosehip, I didn’t know the satellite view was available in the route planner with the gems and bugs overlay. Yes if the home circle outline was there too it would be even better, so I know exactly by which tree or hedge my zone ends for bug drop-offs. But now I can at least see whether I can get to the target radius for a bug or gem, from a field or path I know I can get to, before I set off. 👍

:)
I made sure that when I set my home point, the most likely bug-dropping off points at the edge of my circle were obvious - but it would be a useful addition when on holiday or moving ones circle
