Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The Wombling Plodder (Welsh Womble)
FWIW, Fetchpoint has helped me with my depression. My doctor advised me to get out and go for a walk each day - so I have been using Fetchpoint to map my routes rather than walking around the same block! I don't always get the chance to squish a bug but I tell myself it is only a game and it has helped me explore and also find some new routes for different types of runs, etc. So I for one and thankful :-)

Btw - congratulations to all the winners :-)

TWP(WW) - that's awesome :-)

Minardi - here's what happens for each player:

if (density=0) {
10 gems within a mile
}
if (density=1) {
5 gems within a mile
}
if (density=2) {
3 gems within a mile
}
otherwise {
10/(density+1) gems within a mile
}

sprinkling of gems:
5% chance of diamond (40 points)
10% chance of ruby (20 points)
30% chance of sapphire (8 points)
55% chance of emerald (4 points)

I'm also enjoying the revamped game. If I'm lucky I get to run 2 of my 4 runs a week from home, but more often it is only 1. Therefore, clearing bugs is a challenge. Last night I ran 9.5 miles but was never more than about 1.5 miles from home. Still couldn't clear all my bugs as one is in a caravan park that I'm not brave enough to run round it, another is on the dual carriageway with no pavement (but which I could get on a bike ride if I could be bothered), the third and last one is, according to my OS map, on a public footpath, but I just can't find it!!

When do the flowers start to harvest? I have some from 2nd Sept that are still on my map.

thanks fetch. i particularly like the random element to the gem distribution.....there is always a chance of multiple diamonds then :)

And to add to the fun i think it is worth mentioning that we havent got to the first harvest yet, that will add some extra points to those with flower planting strategies and hopefully bring a few more smiles.

im enjoying the game and think the overall affect is a great improvement

minardi, flowers are harvested 6 weeks after planting, so the first ones should be on 13th October.

Another vote for the new game here - despite the fact that running this week is somewhat curtailed - I will be doing an extended bug-clearance run on Friday! I barely lasted a month under the old game set-up :)

Minardi I don't think any of the flowers rules changed with the new setup - need to be watered within any 28 day period and harvested after 6 weeks. However I would mention the point R4R raised once a flower reaches 20 points it no longer gets watered even if you pass over it (look at the flowers message box on future runs to see). Therefore if a flower reaches 20 points within the first 2 weeks, and it can, it will not be watered again within the 6 weeks period so will be lost before being harvested. Whether deliberate or not I think this is another aspect that needs to be considered when planning routes ;-)
