Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

@RevBarbaraG - you've done superbly well and maintained great focus for the majority of the year. Every time I read your posts it reminds me that i really need to get back on with losing weight myself. Maybe give your self a mini - target of being where you are (at the same weight) in a months time and feeling relaxed with that - perhaps eating averagely and keeping up with the excercise. The longer you are this weight, the more normal it will feel.

That’s a good idea, @Snail . I would break that down into:

1) another week of ADF until the U3A Christmas dinner - maybe lose a couple of pounds

2) 16 days until my birthday, during which I’ll do my best to stick to 2 meals with no snacking, but allow some seasonal indulgences (just within meals) - likely gain a few pounds

3) A week or so to get back to where I am today.

Or something like that, anyway.

If you don’t feel like exercising hard, don’t. Listen to your body, maybe just have a walk. After all, we only get stronger during rest. I spend a lot of winter reading trashy crime novels and doing jigsaws and have stopped feeling guilty about it. Warmer days will come.

Well I had a successful full day’s fast yesterday, a fantastic night’s sleep and have been for a swim this morning. I feel a thousand percent better…. and looking forward to lunch!

Brilliant RevB, you beat those inner demons and found your motivation again.

If only we could bottle that feeling.

Sorry, not managed to find time to pop on here lately or update the spreadsheet ..

GG (aka. GB!) - my feet seem to be behaving lately .. or maybe that's just me taking extra care! I decided to buy a third pair of Saucony Guide 17 (the 'rocker' trainers) purely to wear indoors. I now have a pair for my morning walks - a black pair for when I need to (cough) dress up a little bit but 'some' walking will be required and I can get away with trainers - and the aforesaid ones for indoors. A very expensive pair of slippers in other words. The suggested 'three tins of dog food a day' sounds a bit like the toothpaste adverts that show the whole brush covered, when you only need a smidge to clean them.

RevBG - maybe you need to change the exercise routine a bit to stop feeling jaded? Good to hear you see your reflection in the mirror and think you look okay. Anyway, hope your current lack of mojo soon disappears. I was saying on another thread - I feel the cold more than I used to - but I think until recently, I was still dressing for Autumn instead of Winter! You could always wear your big girl pants over your leggings - you'd look like a superhero then ;) Have read on a bit further and seen you have been for a swim and are feeling better as a result - great news. I've not been swimming lately - I stayed at the Premier Inn last week instead of the Holiday Inn so there was no chance of a pre-dinner swim. I did recently look at swimming lessons at my local leisure centre - but that's as far as I got!

Non-runner - good to hear the good weather in Malaga has improved your mood.

I'm meeting the leisure centre manager on Friday to talk about the possibility of my swimming club's sessions restarting. They got suspended last December after an incident when a female lifeguard was upset by one of our members. I'm hoping the meeting will be constructive and any outstanding issues can be dealt with (have been trying to resolve them on and off all year). The club members will be pleased if we can restart the sessions - I just hope not too many of them have drifted away over the intervening period. I'm the Treasurer and 'acting' Chairman so it's been down to me to deal with the fallout from the incident. But I'm taking another committee member with me on Friday for moral support and to help me answer any questions the manager has.

Popped back to say I've updated the spreadsheet (a .1kg increase - so basically, another STS week).

I've also updated Trendweight (via Fitbit) and there's a definite downward trend has begun. Just hope I can keep that trend line going downwards rather than up! ;)

WtnMel - all good news from you, re your feet and the weight.

Might seem expensive now buying all those shoes, but they will last a very long time and your feet really matter. 'No foot, no horse'

All good from me, settling into new gym plan which is hard but good and running mileage gradually increasing, should reach target weekly mileage by the end of the year.

Weight decreasing slowly, just less than a pound a week, which is fine as I'm trying to improve on the muscle % at the same time.

I must apologise @RevBarbaraG I totally planned to reply to your personal side of the chats we had on Tuesday but I got to work then hotel (& worked) before meeting colleagues for dinner and collapsing into bed. As I planned to do it my brain switched off.

I am glad that in the meantime you’ve reflected your last post made me smile 😃 and acknowledged how amazing you’ve done this year, you have been a massive inspiration to myself and others. What you’ve achieved is so much more than weight loss the vast health improvements are magnificent.

I also get very jaded at this time of year, there’s more demands on our time, the cold weather has negatively impacted my running since coming back from HK and the dark mornings/nights are awful. So I would say keep doing what you are and a few weeks of maintaining would be a huge success not only testing the balance of longer term goals but also the confidence that you won’t regain as long as you don’t revert to pre 2024 Rev. Even a small gain is ok it’s getting back on track when life calms down in the new year.

Shades huge well done on the focus at the gym and associated results you are also a huge inspiration, I wish I was an early bird like you but as I said ^^ I’m struggling with the dark and dampness & a massive upkick in work.

That sounds like a tricky situation at the pool hope it resolves.

Non-runner I was same in HK the blue skies and warmth was magical. It has made return hard but it was worth it. Enjoy.

@geordiegirl hopefully you'll be able to ease up over the festive season and recharge your batteries.

I'm fortunate that I've already been an early morning person so it's second nature to me to get up early and run. When I was working I ran every day before work, I found that if the day went pear shaped or I was too tired at least I'd done my training.
