Geordiegirl - sorry you're still suffering with that nasty virus. Nothing you can really do to hurry up your recovery so rest, eat and drink.
Very difficult short run this morning as I'd trashed my legs in the gym yesterday.
Today 30 mins upper body session in the gym, any more starts to niggle my back.

Geordiegirl what date is your big run?
No run from me either but day 17/30 iron done. Like shades upper body today. I do prefer upper work even if my weights are only tiny compared to hers. Still loving it. Already looking for which one to try next. ๐

I fly out on 23rd April and first run is 25th and then 26th. I am comfortable with reassessing my goals and walking more than intended, its about completing. But I really wanted the long runs under my belt, I've only gone to 15m. I know I can do it, I've done a 100k and a 70m and I've done 3 days back to back in the Lakes, the desert/sand is an unknown anyway and comfort knowing the majority of entrants are walkers.
I do love the upper body workouts too, and I am now about 1/2 what she uses, I have a 20kg sand bag which is great for the RDLs and some other exercises. I have bowflex weights which if I can I will switch up/down but I'm thinking of getting a single pair of 10/12 for the sessions where its mostly lower but need higher for odd ones inbetween.

Pam - I'm the opposite, I don't like doing upper body. Love doing glutes and legs though.
Geordiegirl - you've plenty time to get well and get a decent long run in. Sounds like the sort of event that will rely more on your head getting you round rather than ticking all the boxes on a training plan.
Will it be hot?

Geordiegirl - well the heat and humidity will all be part of the challenge. And you know to expect such conditions.

Geordiegirl. Just had a look at that challenge. Like you say you've covered the distance so that should be ok but have you done some training on sand or in the sun? That's going to be the biggest shock going from the cold weather here.

That is indeed the biggest challenge. I did live in Oman a few years ago and ran there regularly but def wonโt be acclimatised now Iโm fortunate that Iโm going to Gran Canaria the week before. But my friend is also in UK and we will both be taking it steady.

Geordiegirl. Wow. That's nice training preparation. You really need to get rid of that bug fast.

GG - I'm glad to hear work quickly told you to log off when they realised you were ill. Good that you're going to Gran Canaria the week before your challenge so you get a chance to acclimatise a bit.
SarahWoo - that's a decent loss so don't be too disappointed.
I got out for another early 3.5ml walk this morning. Nice and quiet this morning as not too many dog walkers.
Off to see my Mum again tomorrow and staying over. My partner is coming with me this week. So I won't be doing my usual fast walk in the evening before eating or taking my laptop with me as I'll have someone to talk to!
