RevB it’s why I’ve started recording once a month as a long run could upset my result. That said and as I messaged earlier I get obsessed with weighing but I stick to minimal recording which is my real numbers.

I’ve had a crap day at work and going to Prague tomorrow so we went out for tea. Therefore if I’m out I have what I’d like so no question fish and chips. I’m comfortable with this. It’s a big step forward accepting the life balance knowing I will work hard when I can and relax when enjoying life a bit more.

After a little gain last week I’ve had a slightly bigger loss this week and since 1st Jan down 1lb now if I can make it another 1 by beginning of Feb I’ll be happy.

Off to Prague today so there will be lots of eating and drinking but lots of walking too. Have a great weekend all.

Felt slimmer, weighed more, sigh. I don't think there was *that"* much water in my hair.

Lizzie W I know how you feel. I felt thinner last week and gained. I tried to convince myself I don't actually have my weight wrote on my back, so if I feel thinner I probably am.

Not sure I succeeded in convincing myself though. 😁😁

How we feel is more important than the scales yet these little blighters seem to mar our feelings. Keep feeling slimmer ❤️

LizzieW - probably still worth drying your hair thoroughly though, before you jump on the scales .. just in case :)

Currently loitering in the 'purple palace' aka. Premier Inn, before driving home, so needless to say, I've indulged in a full English this morning to get the best value from my meal deal ;) The trick now will be to have a 'very' light lunch when I get home ..

OK, taking all the sage advice…..

Down 4.8lb in the past week. 2.6lb of that is since yesterday, so that sets expectations for next week. The walking group is monthly and always on a Thursday, so I suppose I’ll just get in the habit of accepting that there is a week with a big loss followed by one without.

I have also been feeling slimmer - the curve of my waist feels a bit curvier, that is always where I feel it first. Next time I go to the gym I will use the Boditrax system again - they suggest to do it once a week, though I doubt there would be a noticeable change in body composition in a week.

We swam this morning. 400m, the same as Tuesday, and in my head I was convinced I had done it a lot quicker. But according to my Apple Watch the time was indistinguishable. I wanted to stay in longer and do another 4 lengths and make it 500m, but Mr had had enough.

It’s weird how he copes so much better with walking (especially hills) than I do, but I’ve got much more stamina in the pool? Or maybe it’s to do with weight….. Mr refuses to get on the scale, but also says he is bigger than he’s ever been, and I know what he weighed at his peak before. So I can make a guess, which still leaves me carrying considerably more excess weight than him, and that matters more walking up hills than swimming, I guess.

PS - has anyone looked into VO2Max much?

I heard a podcast the other day (from the Zoe people) about exercise. Apparently there is a level of VO2 Max below which the activities of daily living become challenging/impossible and people struggle to be independent. It’s about 20 for men and 16 for women.

According to my Apple Watch, my VO2Max is about 21. But of course it is relative to weight, and my BMI is 40. If it was 25, then my VO2 Max would be 33.3.

According to a chart I found - for my age, my current VO2 max is “Fair”, but >30 would be “excellent”. So my excellent fitness is hampered by my excessive weight.
