And me Kwala
Cuddy - that's absolutely fabulous
*moan alert* I've had a dreadful couple of weeks eating wise, hardly run and stuff has got in the way - and now I've got the lurgy. I was planning just to give myself a break and just go into damage limitation mode until after Christmas. - but maybe, seeing your results and knowing how well GM is doing I might motivate myself for a couple of weeks .....

I'm feeling slightly peeved because I seem to have gone into bounce around within the same pound and a half mode for the last couple of weeks. Highly annoying because I haven't been eating things that are off plan. But I am sticking with it because it is definitely good for my blood glucose and I'm sure weight loss will resume in due course.
I've been thinking about what I'm going to do over the festive period, seeing as a ketogenic diet is not really compatible with mince pies, Christmas pudding or chocolate. Or crisps, peanuts etc.
I've come to the conclusion there are broadly 3 strategies:
1) EAT EVERYTHING for a few days, the go back to strictness afterwards. My worry about that is that I may feel very bloated eating a lot of carbs after all this time, but even more so, that it might reignite the sweet cravings.
2) Christmas? What's Christmas? Just eat normally.
3) Ease up, but stay close to keto. That might mean some days going over 50g carbs, but probably not as much as 100g. So my ketone levels will fall, maybe into the 'not in ketosis' level, but I won't replenish my glycogen stores up to the level of someone who eats a standard diet, which means I should get quickly back into ketosis when I resume my normal eating pattern.
What will I spend my extra carb budget on? Probably a roast potato with my Christmas dinner, maybe a greater diversity of fruit, and a few keto-friendly treats. More indulgent than I normally have, but a lot lower carb than standard Christmas fare.
Well, that's the current plan!

That's a great loss in your first week and a good incentive to stick with it, Cuddy. Apart from one week (week 3 - everyone seems to find this a difficult week to lose much weight) when I lost 1.5lb, I've lost at least 2lb every week for 13 weeks. And that's without doing much exercise.
I'm having the same deliberations, Rev. I think I'm going to ease up from Christmas Day until 27th (I'm doing a cycling event on that day and there's bacon butties at the feed station and chilli with beer at the end....) so I can have some mince pies, chocolate and christmas pudding. On the other days I'll not count calories but will stick to the principles of the BSD.

Only 1lb off this week. Oh the irony after my last post!

Oh dear GM, indeed the timing! But you've been doing it for quite a long time now, the less and less you have to lose, the body tries the bump back occasionally.

Morning losers Love that Kwala I'm defo in that camp too.
I'm lurking a bit and hanging on by my finger tips. Not really following any kind of plan although I did download and read the BSD on my way home from hols. Interesting reading and many bells rung. Not sure I'm ready to go VLC yet my need is to stop bingeing on shit whenever something bothers me or to avoid dealing with any kind of situation. I have food planned for the week and at the moment I am one step ahead with the prep. Will log it on MFP and see how the calorie count balances out

Planning ahead is a good start
I had a gain last week and been really struggling. So instead of giving a weight loss target as we usually do, I set an action target to plan my meals for the week. I've not been quite 100% but much better than I would've been otherwise and feel like I'm heading back towards being in control

I'm watching with interest, and seeing some impressive results.
I need to read back a bit but need to do something to halt a worrying trend, that will be out of control come January.

As a relative newcomer to this thread, can I ask what happens at the end of the year? Do we have a new thread (and spreadsheet) for 2017? If so - do you count weight loss from New Year, or from whenever you started your current effort?
I am determined to be over 3.5 stone down this side of a Christmas. So close...

I think a new thread but the spreadsheet transfers, Rev. It's up to individuals then if they want to continue or scrub the spreadsheet clean for a fresh new year start. I'm banking on having lost 3 stones by Christmas.....!
It's a difficult time of year to start healthy eating/calories cutting, so a bit of damage limitation where you can might be the best approach.
