Re your confession, H - the Lord is merciful and you are absolved
I can't imagine anyone, anywhere would think that eating less sugar would be bad for you. Apart from a sugar manufacturer, of course.
I did lose 8lb my first week, but for 2 particular reasons: a) I was very heavy - weight loss is proportional to where you're starting from; b) going low carb means you retain less water, so there is a one-off loss, not to be repeated.
Unless you are very big, or just starting out, the only way to lose 8lb in a week is by total fasting. And even then it may not happen.

Indeed. Just looking at the (guesstimated) maths gives a clue.
My understanding is that a pound of fat is around 3500 calories. So to lose a pound, you need to be in deficit by that much each week.
My wrist monitor thingy tells me that I am burning around 1800 to 2000 calories a day, depending on the amount of exercise I take. So a 'remain the same' week would mean eating, roughly 14000 calories.
A deficit of 28,000 calories would mean losing eight pounds.
I know it's not *that* simple, but as a rough guide...
Obviously someone heavier would have a better chance of achieving that loss because their deficit would be wider.

There is a case of a man who fasted for over a year, from being massively obese to being a normal weight. (He was medically supervised - don't try this at home!)
Over the whole time, his weight loss averaged about three quarters of a pound per day, or 5 pounds a week. Those who are into fasting reckon on between half and three quarters of a pound per day, once you take into account what you regain when you start eating again. Which is gut contents, primarily.
Anyhow... I did my first test-bake yesterday for some low carb mince pies. The cooking bit wasn't particularly easy - pasty from almond flour doesn't work the same way. And initially I wasn't sure of the results, as the first one I tried last night seemed to be rather more biscuit than pastry. But maybe that one was overdone... or waiting overnight softened them... because I took two along to the Widows' Group Christmas Tea, and they were quite tasty.
OTOH, once I had stripped the zest off the orange I had bought solely for that purpose, I then consumed the orange. And my blood glucose soared to unacceptable levels. Which is why I generally stick to things that don't do that to me.

After last week's disappointing 1lb loss, I've lost 3lb this week, taking me to 3 stones and 1lb lost. Mr GM gave me a new bead for my Pandora bracelet to mark the occasion

Ive just updated the spreadsheet with this week's loss and it still had last week's on it. That's when I realised that we didn't celebrate Cuddy's fantastic weight loss last week of over 7lb! Well done Cuddy, you were our last week. I hope this week has gone well for you too. I haven't cleared the spreadsheet as I'm not sure who has updated it for this week and who still has last week's loss showing......

I hadn't updated, but have now.
As my WI day is Tuesday and my fasting day is Monday, it basically takes me the rest of the week to get back to Tuesday's figure after the only-to-be-expected partial regain. Still hoping I will see a loss the next two weeks. But over Christmas/New Year, all bets are off. I won't be going mad by any means - but I won't be fasting either.

Hello there, would those of who are low carb/BSD/similar be kind enough to suggest some on-the-go breakfast ideas?

Thanks GM Only -2lbs this week but I'll take it!
I'm with you on the apple with the nut butter, so easy. Although I'm pretty sure I have more than 20g of nut butter!
