Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My biggest issue is portion size.

For some reason this has only just bubbled to the top of my brain.

Doh!

It being Tuesday, I have done the Sunday summary :-)

Last week's Biggest Loser was GM with a splendid 2.5lb star star, and an honourable mention to Helegant with 1.5 medal

I've also done my weigh-in for this week.... a tiny weeny little 0.8lb off for me, but still the right direction, eh?

I made a fish pie this evening, with celeriac mash instead of potato. It was surprisingly edible.

I am gobsmacked by the tastiness of cauli mash. I don't even like the taste of cauliflower.... but cauli mash doesn't taste of it, so that's fine :-) And cauli rice is a great find as well.

This evening, however, we had courgetti. Rather than going through the faff of using my spiraliser, I bought a packet from Sainsbury's - reduced as on the sell by date. I think the doing them in the microwave is probably the way to go, as my previous attempts at cooking them have been a bit dubious. Went lovely with the Danish meatballs in tomato sauce I whipped up from my Keto cookbook.

We're big fans of courgetti - we have them a couple of times a week. Cauli rice, I agree, is much better than I'd anticipated. I'm really not missing rice or pasta and spaghetti is one of my favourite foods.

Even more so than cake, GM?

It was always the thought of giving up sweet things that put me off low carb. But once you've broken the stranglehold..... it's really not much of an issue any more. I have to pinch myself.

But.... sometimes I can feel the danger, you know? It's like a drug.... I could get hooked again. And so don't want to. It's not worth it.

No, not more than cake or chocolate, but better than pie or Sunday roast!

I would say that before I started eating this way, around 2/3 of my main meals involved either rice or pasta, with the remaining third having some form of potato. And light meal pretty much always involved bread - sandwich, or a roll with soup, or something on toast. Breakfast was porridge. Carbs to the left of me, carbs to the right... but now, here I am - stuck in the middle with... cream and bacon!
