The Scribbler
I must have slept through the thunder but got out for a run just before 6am when it was still raining a bit. I thought the rain would cool the air but it was incredibly humid. Managed 6 miles run/walking, thankful for a bit of a breeze as I turned for home, but it's not easy conditions at the moment.

Rain often makes things muggier...at least you got out before the yellow orb in the sky emerged! ;)

Weather apart, I remain a little crocked but optimistic and am trying to notch up 20-30mpw of running plus some walking and cycling.

The weather is making training tough, I think. I have no idea whether or not I’m getting the right training in for my marathon. It all feels like such hard work at the moment. 10 weeks to go though.

I know I'm not getting in the training that I wanted for Chester and Yorkshire at the moment, but I'm doing *some* training and preparing for the possibility that I might be cheering rather than running. If my knee doesn't get any worse (and there's no reason to think that it will) I should be able to get round 16.whatever miles without too much drama, but a marathon will require a big shift in attitude towards "just finishing", which wasn't the plan at all when I entered.

I struggle in warmer weather and haven't got any important races booked. I've given myself a target of running more miles in each of June, July and August than I have before. I managed it in June and only need another 6 miles for July so should manage it. It's a low bar though, I only need 38 total for July

I can get used to running in the warmth, though it often doesn't stay that warm long enough here...to properly acclimatise.

Yes, I'm scoping out the weather windows to get training in for a half marathon at the beginning of September. I'm at the stage where I could run to/from work as a long run and was thinking about running home on Friday afternoon, but the 25C forecast has changed my mind.

25degC. Oooof! I'm also looking at the weather forecast and thinking, "Have a nap in the afternoon and go out running in the middle of the night." But that's a bit crap too, because there's no way I'm running on unlit country lanes or off-road by torchlight.

I see your 25C forecast and raise to 31C. I'm melting. Stuck in a wooden sauna aka the office with 2 fans and getting hotter by the second.
