I generally don't listen while I'm rowing any more because the fan noise drown you and Ian out a fair bit. I don't have that with a lot of other podcasts so a bit more volume wouldn't go amiss.
Glad it's not just me that felt volume was a bit lower than other media. I wouldn't mind just turning it up louder but in one particular configuration, even turned up full I sometimes can't quite hear it. (Spotify on phone via wireless earbuds. In car if I crank it right up it's loud enough, though still quieter than other media like radio and even music and other podcasts on Spotify. Also fine at home with wireless speaker, but again, only if turned up to full.)
I'll try the direct play link above too, see if it's any louder. I don't usually use that, usually access via Spotify, but happy to try anything!
Great fun, and found myself grinning away on train again like a loon, while listening! Enjoyed Fenland Flier's reflections on running madness. Can confirm he's lovely and not at all mad IRL! G
Loved this week's episode. I quite like the idea that you have to have run your Fetch Mile. Stops people just making random miles all over the place. Means you have to have tested it.
Just caught up to end. Great episode. Sympathies again to Katie. Back pain is the worst. And sympathies to Fetch for 6 Nations defeat. I'm experienced in both types of pain!
Thanks so much for Episode show notes in sidebar. Now if you could just go back and do episodes 1 to 52 please?!
My memories of the Leisure Centre when I was young are stuff of nightmares. I hated the place. I dreaded the weekly coach trip to the Leisure Centre pool because I couldn't swim and I was humiliated rather than helped. If I could get out of it I would, but then I would have to sit in the stands around the pool. One such time a boy from class who was also sitting out, exposed himself to me. I think I was about 8.
A quick search found this, a photo of the old swimming pool where my Dad taught me to swim in about 1976: it was called "Burntwood Baths" back then, the drop to the deep end (visible in this pic) was quite scary when you're only 8 years old and still learning!
Long ago demolished and replaced with a shiny new leisure centre, but fond memories of this place.
I also meant to say: if you look, the water is quite low down compared to the level of the side of the pool, which made hauling yourself out all the more challenging!
I found this pic on a blog (https://myfirsttri.wordpress.com/2011/09/03/saturday-swim-training/) it says it's a museum image. If a Fetchie is the author that would be a fab coincidence!
Westminster Lodge Pool St Albans as I remember it from the 70s
haven't seen the modernised leisure centre version IRL - but it looks rather posh and expensive now

1) find somewhere with minimal background noise 2) recording on a smartphone is fine 3) start with "Hello Fetchies, it's..." 4) a couple of minutes is a good length 5) don't worry about ums, aahs and pauses. We can edit them out. 6) email the file to podcast@fetcheveryone.com
