He's getting there, thanks Linds - helped by the day off school, and some birthday goodies to keep him occupied.
We have a theory that it might be triggered by collisions at football training / matches. He felt unwell after a training session a few months ago, having taken a ball to the head. He was sick, dizzy, had vision issues, a headache, and was sleepy. We took him for a check up, and they concluded that it was a concussion. Yesterday's football also had some rough play - he got clattered a couple of times - so right now it feels like there's a blurred line between the two.
On a positive note, he's got a better understanding of how it sets in. The first couple were upsetting for him (and for me too), but this time he managed it pretty well. The tricky part was that all his football friends were there, as it was meant to be his birthday party :-/ Luckily they didn't seem to give a sh*t, and carried on playing his console, kicking a ball round in the garden, and eating his birthday cake, whilst he slept upstairs in a dark room.
That sounds potentially quite stressful and upsetting. Glad it went OK in the end and glad he's on the mend. The only thing we could isolate for LittleD (now 13) was that she seemed to have eaten a lot of cake that she had made in Food Tech . She had had PE, though. It's good if he can manage it and not be upset by it. It's awful when they are ill, isn't it?
Lol, kids are wonderfully resilient Fetch, including mates! Glad boy feeling a bit better. How to cope with onset (and actually applies to many ailments) is useful skill.
Bit worrying about concussion being possible cause or trigger. There is certainly increasing evidence that some people are more susceptible to knocks - I was thinking rugby neck, back and head collisions, but probably applies to football too. Hope it's not too serious.
I hope the boy is feeling better soon. Concussions can be a tricky business. I think I read that having one leaves people more susceptible to picking up concussions in the future.
