Well done Fetch, great idea and just listened to both episodes. If people are to make a contribution what do you suggest would be the best recording methods for iphone and android? I listen to podcasts when running and generally at commuting times. This means a lot of traffic and general 'city' noises and I find some podcast recordings are just not loud enough to hear. Most are ok, but there are a few who I can't listen to when running. What's your thoughts?
Hi Boab. I tried doing a recording a couple of weeks ago, using a standard iPhone headphone mic. I was well away from traffic, so the sounds that got recorded are mainly me breathing, and my footfall. I use Audacity to do the editing, and it has filters that will clean up the audio to an extent, and also the ability to amplify the volume level. At this early stage, I can only offer the 'suck it and see' approach
I have re-listened and now realise that Katie is concerned about 'tent zips' for the impending camping trip.
On the first listen, I thought she said 'ten zips'. I had visions of multiple levels of tent security, designed to flummox whatever critters might be trying to find their way in.
Having listened to a LOT of audio recordings of people running and talking I can tell you the following suck in terms of audio quality: Road noise Gravel paths Flight paths Grass cutters Rustly jackets Loud panting
Have had our first contribution from The Scribbler
We're going to trim it to a one minute piece (which only involves trimming about 20 seconds), and hopefully it'll encourage more of you to come forward with a little contribution A minute feels like a nice chunk of time to speak for.
As for background noise... obviously the quieter the better, unless the background noise is interesting.
Just listened to Episode 2 while on my long run. Can confirm that you can download on an Android!
Soooooooo excited that there will be official Fetch support at Boston. I'm running this marathon on my 50th birthday, so to have a mass Fetchie presence will be incredible. We'll be staying the night before and after so hopefully can be a part of some kind of gathering.
Thank you Fetch!! This news really made my long run - I was close to tears.

Contributors We love getting contributions. Here's how:
1) find somewhere with minimal background noise 2) recording on a smartphone is fine 3) start with "Hello Fetchies, it's..." 4) a couple of minutes is a good length 5) don't worry about ums, aahs and pauses. We can edit them out. 6) email the file to podcast@fetcheveryone.com
