Ok folks, you can now sign up, and get your first look at the routes:

fetcheveryone.com/fetchvirtualchallenge2024.php

This year I've embedded the StreetView into the page itself, because I think it's a nice feature so let's make it as easy as possible to find out where you land after every excursion. And I've added a very obvious 'FIND' button next to each person on the leaderboard, so you can go see what your friends are looking at. You can also click the checkpoints to see the view at each one (although it's pretty tricky to make sure that they correspond exactly to the best view, AND also pointing in the right direction!) Don't forget that you can drag the StreetView image around, to give you a 360 view.

The run/walk route this year has been designed by McGoohan as tribute to Swittle. It begins in Margate near 'Another Time', an Anthony Gormley sculpture. Then it takes in a variety of other Gormley sculptures, and a series of places that were of importance to our pal. It ends with a little section of the Sefton Coastal Path, overlooking his beloved iron men. McG will give you some more detail on that in a blog at some point between now and kick off.

Sushi has designed this year's swim route. It starts at the northern tip of Loch Ness, and takes you along its length, then through Loch Lochy (presumably named by the same voting process that gave you Boaty McBoatface and Brexit) and along the Caledonian Canal to Torcastle and Fort William. The StreetView might be a bit challenging for swimmers, but I've had a look at the checkpoints, and you do get to put your heads above water occasionally :-)

And I've pulled together a route for the cyclists. After travelling down the west coast of the USA last year, I thought we'd tackle India this year. The StreetView images are fascinating, starting on a busy street-cum-marketplace near the Hooghly River in Kolkata. It then flirts with the coast, travelling through Visakhapatnam, Chennai and a host of towns and cities I have never/barely heard of (but sounded nice). And you just keep going until you run out of land, reaching Kanyakumari on the southern-most tip of the country.

As you make your way along the routes, look out for little yellow triangles symbolising notes that have been left by other travellers. You can click these to read them; and you can click any point along the route to leave a note for others.

The challenges begin (as usual) on the day the clocks go forward - and this year that's March 31st (which is also Easter Sunday). There's a heap of badges to collect (which I really must finish making!) and as always, if you can't complete the challenges by the end (when the clocks go back on October 27th), I will leave the page open for you to track your progress. We still have various people completing last year's challenge, and even the year before that, and even a couple of people still looking at the year before that! So no worries, do your thing and have fun :-)

I'm in. I'll attempt all of them but will probably only finish run and bike in time.

Sushi.
I'm in the run and swim.

I'm practicing hard in the pool so Nessy doesn't eat me on the swim.
