I really admire those who read music and can only (in ignorance) sympathise with having to adapt to music written in unusual keys. As I’m retired now, I probably should devote some time trying to read music.

He's better at improvisation than I am. I've always been lousy at improvisation because of the reading of music, than relying on playing by ear, or my brain just doesn't work well that way!
