I’ve started to learn the bass guitar in earnest. I’ve liked listening to bass parts for years but done nothing. I’ve borrowed my daughter’s bass and have bought a tutor manual as well as trawling through YouTube videos, but there’s so much information there it’s difficult to know what to use and which aspects to focus on. As a result I’ve arranged one to one lessons with a teacher. I’ve played six string guitars for years so am looking to this new challenge 🙂 |

I appear to have joined the local recorder group who meet a couple of times a month. Had first meet a couple of weeks ago, another one this week. Not played recorder in about 25 years prior, wasn’t sure what iwas letting myself in for, but surprised myself by really enjoying it. 😁

Recorders are so much fun...when I was in uni, I joined the medieval music group on recorder and had a blast. It was really enjoyable and quite a change from my usual diet of classical piano back then.

I went to a recorder concert a little while ago put on by our vicar’s husband who plays professionally. I was flabbergasted with the sounds he created on his various different instruments.

I was gifted O’Neill’s Music of Ireland (book of jigs - the Bible of Irish music in my opinion) for my recent birthday. I’ve been playing them on flute/picc but have just bought a tin whistle to give them a go on.

My wife played recorder with a small group in Derbyshire a few years ago. I'm still a big Dan Laurin fan. I also have a bass guitar! |
