Thanks. I learnt brass in secondary school, but fancied a changed. I haven't played for years. Recently bought a nuvo dood and toot to try them and then discovered the instruments at school.

Had a fab day of music making today at the band call and sitzprobe of the production of We Will Rock You I’m playing for the week after next.
Great fun playing some rock music with a bunch of really good players and singers.
First time for me using in-ear monitoring (so rather than having a speaker blasting at you to try and hear yourself above everyone else, a set of noise blocking headphones plugged into an individual mixer that let you choose how much of everything to hear). Took a bit of setting up and getting used to, but it’s nice to be home without ringing ears.
Here’s my ‘rig’
Stage piano on the bottom, organ on top. IEM mixer bottom left, iPad top left managing the keyboard sounds and playing various sound effects. And underneath pedals for sustain, volume, and moving to the next patch.
I’ve really missed this over the last two years.

This belongs in the "What Really Grinds your Gears" thread, but I'll get more sympathy here!
The show I'm playing in next week is called "Mis-Casts" - a selection of various musical theatre pieces, but sung by people who wouldn't normally do those roles. As a consequence the MD has chosen to transpose most of the pieces (by ordering a transposed version of the music online).
This has led to delights such as this:
It's not massively hard, but it would certainly be a lot easier in B major than C-flat major. And other stuff just doesn't feel right. We're doing 'Defying Gravity' in D major - which sounds all bright and brittle, while the original (D-flat major) feels more properly dark and warm.
First world problems and all that, but I'm thinking there might be a reason why they were looking for a Keyboard 1 with a week to go.
