Had a quick think about this.
Player A: makes chess move, clicks clock, must run 100m before making next move. Player B: makes chess move, clicks clock, must run 100m before making next move. Player A: when gets back from run, (wait if not turn yet), makes chess move, clicks clock. Player B: when gets back from run, (wait if not turn yet), makes chess move, clicks clock.
Tactics: 1. Wait until after seeing opponent's move before running. - pro: know opponent's move so can think about own move while running. - con: probably uses more time. 2. Start running straight after clicking clock. - pro: probably uses less time. - con: don't know opponent's actual move, just potential moves.
When under time pressure tactic #2 would probably be more useful. If complex position, tactic #1 could be useful.
Variations for distance to run and time on the clock.

Addendum to above: must run after each move, unless the game has ended.
Rapid variant: 100m with time control of 5 minutes with 15s increment. 5km variant: 5km with time control of 2 hours with 60min increment. Bullet variant: 10m with time control of 2 minutes with 2s increment. Bullet variant: 10m with time control of 3 minutes with no increment. Olympic variant: 10km with time control of 2 hours with 30min increment. Spartan variant: marathon with time control of 10 hours with 5 hour increment.
Other variations?

Clinical finish Chunky against an experienced match player.
And very well done Fetchie U1200s on another match win (assuming noone gets banned:-0)
I’ll look around for another opponent for the next match.
If you’ve got any preference on rating range to play against next then let me know.

A basic question, are there good tournaments on Chess.com that I could play in? I’ve only got Chess Ladder on at the moment and nothing else. Don’t want to join a tournament and be disappointed / have no idea what’s going on! etc.

There are all sorts of tournaments, I'm sure there will be some that suit you.
Click on the tournament icon (the medal) and then 'Daily' and you'll see a list of available tournaments. You'll need to check to make sure the time control, rating range, group size, number of simultaneous games etc fit with what you're looking for (and also that they're standard games rather than 960 or with a specific starting position)
