bja61: thanks for the game, I can't compete with someone just making one mistake and even that was you moving a Bishop early on that I didn't deal with quickly enough.

I'd be up for an under 1000 rated match. I seem to be sitting in the 900s, so that would be just at my level.

I noticed on the club leaderboard I've not got a rating yet for daily games. I've finished 9 games, is there a minimum before I get on the leaderboard?

To try and cut down the confusion around my name I've now changed it to FetchJoophy.

Yes the runners match is like playing an old correspondence (postal) game. If my games go to the endgame they'll be finishing when most people have been vaccinated and parkruns and races have returned...

Maclennane - I guess it is reference to my material advantage that I sacrificed? I'll have a detailed look later.

I'm on move 16 as black, down on material but his king is somewhat exposed, move 19 as white, quite a balanced game so far.

Slow play is a tactic to throw you off your game. I'm resisting the urge to use it when I'm getting beaten as it's not really in the spirit of Fetch Chess Club and does come across as a bit sulky if you suddenly slow right down.

But I have used it in the past against opponents. Sometimes it works, most often not. If you're getting beat it's usually because you made a mistake or the opponent is just a better standard of player.

But to play slow from the start - that's a new one on me !

Just played a game I thought was going to be 10mins per move but turned out to be 10mins for the whole game! Looks like I need to read up on the game settings :)
