It's in the country Synge, unfortunately we couldn't go down and choose the interior finish in person due to covid restrictions so we chose online. We're not that fussy with regards to the decor anyway. As far as I know it'll be ready in February. They haven't said that they are expecting any delays.

Thanks all. We’re hoping to stay low key and wild camp for some sunrise photos once that’s okay to do. It is lovely to have a getaway vehicle, even if we’re not going far at the moment

Mine is being used for the daily commute just to stretch its legs today.

Taking mine shopping tomorrow. We know at least two owners of relatively new vans who have had to replace the leisure battery quite early on in its life. I am assuming that a weekly run to get the engine to operating temperature - maybe a half hour or so - will help prevent issues here, as well as keep the vehicle (engine, tyres brakes etc) in working order over the winter. We don't use it as a daily drive and it could easily go three or four weeks unused at this time of year.

I have also bought an adapter so that we can plug the vehicle in to our domestic power supply, but haven't used this yet. I don't know how often or for how long that would be worth doing?

Tim -I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that leisure batteries die early. Mine are going strong after 6 years (the California has two) and I just keep give them the occasional charge and have never really flattened them below 40%. I guess I've got it coming, but can have no complaints.

Following this thread with interest. I live in Norway and my ideal, a VW Cali Ocean, is v rare here because it is taxed as a normal car, and thus has the very high tax that all fossil vehicles have here. Other “town campers” with an area of fixed standing height inside are taxed in a lower bracket, eg a Carman Dexter.

OTOH electric vehicles do not attract the fossil fuel purchase tax and are also VAT-exempt (hence the very high uptake of electric vehicles here). So it may pay me to wait until an electric camper van comes. VW ID.Buzz is said to be 2022 and will be expensive, but by Norwegian standards it might be doable. That would be my ideal ideal, I think!
