You might be able to take ferry from there to Nigg (skipping a fairly dull part of A9). Another nice little detour is to Balintore. Dornoch is also really lovely with some nice shops & cafes.

Van was collected to go to have repairs done (needed it cold engine wise in the morning). Got a call 20 mins after it had gone, broken down on the motorway, totally different issue, engine smoke, oil/feul leak. Only just got home after sorting recovery etc. bloody nightmare. Dread how much this is going on top of the large amount for the original repair. Ever felt doomed?
