We have a drive away awning for the VW, mainly brought for the room needed with the dog. We are now going to sell it as it's too big. Learnt a lot on our trip to France, even though we have had a VW before. In an ideal world we would like a van like your Rosehip but it just wasn't the right time/ finances etc. one day maybe |

takes a minute to pull the bases across and throw duvalays on top, @SarahWoo - means you haven't got a big waste of space travelling around with you in the daytime some folks leave them as single beds, made up all the time under throws - leaving the seat backs that would be infill for double bed- at home and using pillows as seat backs - if that makes sense? |

ours cost a lot let than most vw sized vans seem to be - guess doing the conversion yourself is what makes the difference?

It's still not cheap doing your self but the VW means we don't have another vehicle. If we went bigger we would need a car as well van goes into the workshop tomorrow to have the units finished (where they made a mistake and are fitting free for us) once I pick up Tuesday it is off to have new tyres and see what the engine management light issues is. Going to cost a pretty penny .... |

@Rosehip thanks, it seems you're thinking is along the same lines as me. I'm used to making up the beds at night from caravanning as a child, and having a tent as an adult (so I have to put the whole thing up as well as the bed!) and it does seem like wasted space to have a bed made up all day. It'll only be me most of the time so if it came to it I could have one side made as a bed and use the other as a settee...

I like the idea of the drop down bed in that crafter layout, even though it’s not me who wrestles with making up the downstairs bed in the Cali! But single beds/seating could be a great option, especially if there’s storage underneath. We appreciate having out of sight storage for our camera gear. |

I've narrowed it down...Autotrail 66, 67 or 67 flex. Waiting to see if the local dealer has all three and if I can get the day off work Friday to go and take a look with my husband.
