Was considering hiring a motorhome for a week later in the year, while we start considering moving from campervan to motorhome.

Can't believe the cost for a week hire. Looking at well over £1,000 in October.

This one I am looking at wants £65 extra per dog - but will charge £150 if there are dog hairs found... what's the £65 charge for then? I'd assumed extra cleaning after we are done.

They also want £45 for bedding, but then say to bring your own duvet and pillows. So what's £45 for - the loan of a sheet and pillow cases???

The rules in the FAQ are crazy also.

The Motorhomes are supplied with one full bottle if this needs replaced it is up to the hirer to do this , if a 2nd bottle has been requested it must be returned full if it is returned empty a charge of £35 will be made.
Erm... so why would I want the second bottle if I can't use it?

You have to clean the van before returning it... have it back (clean) by 10am. Pickup isn't until 3pm, so if I've cleaned it... why do I need it back so early?

For £4k they'd be as well.

That is so they have time to inspect for dog hairs :)

To be fair, I’ve heard of motorhome owners that let their vehicle through an agency, and they’ve been returned in a pretty atrocious state.

I guess that the five hour gap between vehicle return and the new hirer taking it is to allow for all to be put back to rights.

Also, if several vans are being returned on the same day the rental company would need a lot of staff to attend to each one before rehire delivery. No doubt they are sorted in rotation.

There must have been some terrible hiring customers during the pandemic as I’ve heard this type of tight contract wording from others too. We hired a motorhome in 2019 and it wasn’t nearly that bad - we had to bring it back with empty waste and toilet, and clean. That was about it if I recall.

Went to see a motorhome yesterday to see what we thought. Definitely feel like it would fit our trips away a lot better. We're tired of continually jostling for space; take the clothes bag out the seats, up the roof, turn the double seat, convert into a bed...

It was a 2016 Fiat van with RollerTeam build. 6 metres long. Only 10,000 miles on it, so the van has hardly been used. It has a big seating area which is a massive plus for us. It has a bed that comes down on top of the seating area, so again a massive plus as we don't have to make the bed. Can even leave the bed quite high and get up/down with the ladder, meaning we don't have to go to bed/get up at the same time and one can sit under it.

I do wonder though if I should be looking at something a bit newer though, 2020 onwards perhaps.
