I think I've identified some tufted ducks doing lots of diving and a couple of greenshank poking their long beaks in the mud this afternoon.

Ooo delighted to have spotted a regular dunnock in my garden, and it seems they're far more interesting than they let on... theguardian.com |

Living alongside a reservoir I'm lucky that on most of my local runs I see a good variety of birds without having to try too hard but this morning included a definite highlight when I spotted a goldcrest in a bush by the path and was able to stand and watch it from less than 3 feet for several minutes also spotted the local stoat for the first time in a while today, so good start to the day.

Goldcrest that's interesting ff, must be the pine trees on the far side attracting them I assume? I don't think I've ever seen one, I may have to come over your way for a walk. Hurrah for all mustela

As mentioned a couple of pages back I saw a goldcrest on my run on Saturday. Saw a little bird up in a tree and assumed it was going to be a bluetit but, watching it, the behaviour was wrong and I was eventually able to get a good view.

I think the Little Egret might be a resident now. Saw it again in the river this morning close to where I saw it the other day.

I saw a pair of goldcrests in my garden in late Feb last year but they were just passing through, it seems. I keep looking out for some now it's February again but nothing so far.
