Gooner
She flew around the bushes in front of the patio a few times so there was obviously something in there (there is an old mole hole in there so who knows) but I was too busy watching to remember to take a picture sadly.

Red Squirrel
Great picture Gooner. I swam at Roseisle and waved at a sandpiper on the shore.

As an aside, goldfinches are prolific up here. Nearly all the small birds I see on bike rides are goldfinches.

Twice in the last couple of days I've seen a red-legged partridge trotting along the street in a small quiet suburban housing estate close to where I live. I've seen them here before (and mentioned it here), but it's still a mystery to me what they're doing here. This is a good mile away from open countryside and, I would say, a couple of miles from their regular habitat.

Glad you got the crane, DT! Never seen a cattle egret in this country.

If you're still in the Broads, DT, an absolute must to check out is the raptor roost at Stubb Mill, next to Hickling Broad. Mainly a winter thing but I expect it's already started to be active. I was there a few years ago and saw 21 marsh harriers, 2 hen harriers, a merlin, a couple of sparrowhawk, a barn owl (flew low over our heads) and a bunch of cranes!

A group of cattle egret flew over our boat while I was making morning coffee. Later, a pair of birders showed me them in a field, appropriately with cattle. Cranes looked like B52 bombers. Huge birds
