I've never actually heard them calling back and forth. We hear the male frequently. That's the first time hearing the female. Will see if we get both together on night. Worth being woken at 4am for.

When I lived near woodland near the outskirts of Bristol some years ago, I had trouble getting off to sleep for the first month due to males in close proximity calling to females and females screeching back at them. It was lovely though, coupled with the almost nightly badgers in the neighbours’ gardens below.
