Seems to be a bumper blackberry crop outside the back of my flats. They boomed over the weekend from small red/green to massive black, juicy berries. Starlings aplenty yesterday and this morning.

Is fruit early this year? I was out running last weekend and came across lots of ripe mirabelle and bullace plums (they grow wild in hedgerows round here), and I'm pretty sure they're normally something I'd be finding from mid-August (I've picked loads on the late August bank holiday in previous years).

I seem to remember we thought the same about blackberries last year, but the season in the UK is August and September. Different fruits will have different seasons though.

I'm not sure if August to September, means it can move depending on weather and other conditions, or whether it lasts for approx two months. So it might be at the early end again.

Think we were technically about a week late for wild raspberries in Dumfrieshire this weekend, but still managed to responsibly forage a good couple of handfuls to go with our breakfast at our wild campsite.

Also saw a medium sized raptor (buzzard most likely) take down a rabbit running across the road.

I’m still making do with the local pigeons. They are very cute. I’m hoping they’ve found my pond to drink from, as there are feathers around it occasionally.
