We literally both stopped running and went "wwwwooooooah! Wtf is thaaaat?"
It was pretty cool. Chunky. And close enough to see it had an unusual beak. There was a female too on the first spot and we saw some more later on.

Still a few swifts around yesterday evening. Not seen any today, though.

I thought I heard one yesterday evening. I’m going out in a bit to check out our nearest ‘hot spot’

I briefly had a look up at work today. Nothing. I noticed a couple on Sunday night, but nothing since and very few at all since last Wednesday.

Three swim by the Golden Fleece. No screaming. I can’t imagine they’ll be there much longer. Heard the familiar ‘chip’ and then saw a GSW. I love it when I hear a bird then see it

Quite a few swallows on my run tonight. Heard 1, maybe 2, swifts too, very close to where I'd seen some nesting earlier this summer.

I took an early walk with the dog on the Nith this morning. Lots of greylag geese, a good number of lapwing, curlew, and meadow pipit.

With regret, I have to say that I think the swift season is now officially over here. Until next year, my little screeching friends!

We ran last night over a field of freshly cut mowing grass that was being turned over. A lovely big flock of house martins were taking advantage of the inspects stirred up. Sadly no swift were amongst them
