Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Classic heron japes at a pond on the edge of the village this morning.

Pond already has a fake heron deterrent, really heron stood very very still until it realised fake heron was fake and then it moved to grab some fish, missed and the f blew off as it saw us watching, but still amusing 😂🐠

I know, I'm looking for them! Think they're in the long grass right beside us.

Yesterday evening I saw about 20 swifts over the park.

This evening I saw some sort of smallish falcon/kestrel. It was just a bit far away and the light was wrong to see much more than a silhouette. Will have to keep a lookout over the next few days!

Gulls catching flies, seems to be a bit unusual but I have seen it twice recently. Given that we live as far from the sea as it is possible to get I suppose they are making the most of what there is naturally available as well as human waste. Last night there were maybe a dozen gulls flying into a swarm of flies that was on the lee side of an ash tree. The flies were visible with binoculars from quite a distance so there were loads of them, and the gulls flew into the cloud of flies time and again.
