Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Swifts in Keswick, including a pair at a nest site; not many, though.

At least a couple of cuckoos calling.

Ring Ouzel on Lonscale, and a few Stonechat about.

And I can confirm the Skylarks start singing at precisely 03:10 on Sale How. Quite some time before sunrise.

Up on the allotment yesterday, and saw a red kite circling overhead, and then a buzzard being mobbed by 4 crows; felt a bit sorry for the buzzard!

Loads of kites today (SWCP, Selworthy area) - 2 seen at the start, then 5 or 6 within a mile, and for the next mile, a never ending stream of them. Many at the same height, or lower than us, I will process the pics and blog once I'm home.

We've had a lot of tawnies this year, more than I remember in the past. Lay in bed listening to them most nights. Still not seen a single one of them :)

A heron on my run in the Skerne close to the centre of Darlington. Must be some health in the river even though parts of it really don't look it.

Cuckoo tonight somewhere around Roseberry Common. Could have mistaken it for three cuckoos though no idea how far their songs carry.

That said, there's a good chance I heard another later on.
