Sadly, I had to remove a little fledgling from our garden this morning. Looked to be quite well developed, but not feathered yet, so I don’t know what species. Given our garden residents, most likely a house sparrow that was predated and dropped ![]() |

Heard several blackcaps on a walk today at glentanar. Very close in the trees above us, but I couldn't spot any.

Black headed gulls hawking for mayflies along the river this evening. Lots of Common Sandpiper, and a roding Woodcock. Very few Sand Martins this year.

Cuckoo heard today on local patch. Biggest excitement, though, was a great view of a beautiful grass snake slithering across a path near the marshes. First I've seen for years.

Treated to a little display from several swifts towards the end of my run tonight. Even managed to watch swoop into its nest; think it's the first time I've noticed that with my own eyes.
