I've actually noticed a lot more flies than usual this year, in fact. Maybe the mild and wet weather over the winter and spring helped them?

We seem to have a sudden burst of flying plankton. I wondered if the cold spring had delayed them, and they had all emerged at once at the first hint of warmth.

Hoopoes are fab! Never seen them here though. Only when visiting Mallorca.

Plenty of screeching swifts all day long over here in Spain.

Still waiting at home to hear my first cuckoo of the year.

Hoopoes were also regulars on the lawn in SA. It’s funny how common birds in one area become megas in another.

No cuckoo here yet. Bobs says she heard one the other day over towards Thieve's Moss though.

There's a beautiful song thrush feeding in our garden right now. I'm watching it as I type this.

I only said earlier this week, I cannot remember the last time I saw a thrush. One popped up on Merlin last week. And while I haven't not seen them, they were very frequent visitors to my garden as a child, yet now it's very, very infrequent I notice them. I even live on a street named after them.
