Serins seem to be the most common finch near us in Portugal, along with Greenfinches. Two firsts for me yesterday with a blackcap and linnet.

Chiffchaff :-)

Chiffchaff dance danced, and I even managed a couple choruses of the Chiffchaff Patrol song :-)

Saw a coal tit this morning - I’d forgotten how tiny they were, having not seen one for years. Other birds flitting about with same flight pattern which may have been other coal tits - didn’t have binos with me. More siskins - bright-coloured males. Gorgeous birds.

Still in Austria (until tomorrow). Saw about 20 or so snow finches hanging around by a ski lift station - very tame little birds. Yesterday, from the gondola as it climbed out of the valley I heard a yellowhammer and then two mistle thrushes which I could see perched at the tops of conifers. Think I saw crossbills today, too, but they were too distant to be certain. It's odd at the moment because while it's clearly effectively winter still up the mountains, with snow everywhere, below 1000m the snow has more or less gone completely and it's clearly spring.

It’s taken 10 weeks but we’ve finally got a visitor to our window bird feeder. I think it’s the same blue tit every time, only comes once or twice each morning.

May have heard a chiffchaff this morning too though the run was more tiring than I'd have hoped so I wasn't concentrating enough.
