We did make trip up to Hassop and loads of waxwings. No photos as too grey and wet and windy but about 100 total despite the bad weather. Amazing noise šŸ˜

Another fruitless tramp this morning round my local streets where waxwings were reported in numbers yesterday. Ah well, keeps me fit!

I saw 6 barn owls yesterday morning between home and the coast (a one hour drive at the most!)

It was that perfect half-light time for seeing them before the sun comes up properly.

Lovely birds.

Yes, DT, red kites have become reasonably common in recent years here. Nothing by comparison with the area round Reading, though, where I was just before Christmas, where they were all over the place. I simply don't understand how there is enough food there for so many large predators (although I know that in Reading itself loads of people put meat out for them).

Went to ingbirchworth reservoir to walk the dog and see the grebes. They are grown up now. There were also terns, grey lag geese and a buzzard. Dog ignored them all.
