We call tnhem chimney beetles as every year some ended up coming down the chimney and rattling around the fireguard making a din until you let them out. Not sure what happens to them now we have a Chimney Sheep in place.
Watching a dozen or so house martins flying around the sycamore the other side of my garden fence

I suspect if you remove the chimney sheep you will find several generations of deceased bugs

I spotted a juvenile black and white bird the other day, had me really puzzled trying to identify it until I found this.

Very sad to see a deceased sparrow in the garden today. No obvious sign of disease or predation, although I have seen a crow around. I’ve cleaned all the feeders as a precaution.
Happily I just counted 7 others lined up on the fence.

Well that was exciting! Mr S took me to see the kestrel nest that he found last weekend and the chicks were clearly visible and looking like they might fledge soon.
Image taken using a 300mm lens with 1.5 teleconverter - so we were a very respectable distance away on a path looking down over the trees.
We did get rather wet and didn't stay long.
