Reed Warbler still singing locally, Cettis and a sprinkling of Blackcaps too. A dead female Blackcap near my front door had no signs of injury. Roof nesting LLB Gulls widespread in my part of the city ( Cardiff) with well grown chicks still waiting to fly. The pair on my chimney stack don't seem to have hatched their eggs yet so they might not be successful.

Starting an SWCP week, and today went light, ie no rucksack, normal lens. Which was a shame because (a) we saw seals and (b) saw another chough. Well, we heard it to identify as it had a long running flying squabble with a crow. Too far away for any pics with my 'normal' lens.
Will go fully loaded tomorrow!

Not birds, but we had 5 hedgehogs snuffling round our small garden last night. That's a record number.

How superb to have five hedgehogs J2R. Never ever had one in our garden.
Another sort of laugh (to add to my Swifts last week), saw my first House Martin of the year this morning, they've been absent locally.

Saw a Whooper swan at Rother valley park South Yorkshire on Saturday morning after Parkrun. Was with the mute swans and geese near the main part of the lakes that visitors feed the birds from

Definitely a GSW Fragile - as the text says, Lesser have the "ladder" on their back, which this one doesn't!

I think you're right FDNB, due to the white patch rather than barring on the back.

Thanks, I thought so. Since I posted it, a couple of people have pointed out the error where they’d posted it on Facebook :)
