Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Serious envy CD. That's a great spot on your feeder.

Didn’t see the curlews again on today’s race though did hear one within a mile of the start.

I was going to post about some birds I've seen but it all seems so hollow and empty by comparison with a hawfinch on the feeder! :)

Oh, well... Week's skiing in Austria, saw usual suspects such as choughs, but most interesting were crag martins in the village, my first hirundines of the year, and what I'm pretty sure was a middle spotted woodpecker. Have to say the identification was not rigorous, more on the basis that I got a quite decent view and it looked pretty like a great spotted woodpecker but not quite right, red crown different. I'm calling it, though!

Back home now to a spring world of chiffchaffs.

Yes. Absolutely beautiful isn't it.

When I was a kid, it was all about seeing them. Time has taught me the song is very often the real highlight.

Cheeky’s Dad
See I can’t wait for the curlews to get here. So much the sound of spring for me.

Mr Hawfinch has been around again today, which is nice. I have Chiffchaff envy however.

Funny how one pines for the things you don’t have. I’d be chuffed to see a Greenfinch here but my Mum & Dad were over-run with them. They however loved seeing all our Siskins which we are very blasĂ© about.
