We’ve had 16 - 19 Little Egret over on our fields on the walks recently. I think we can safely say they’ve established an egretery!

Our jackdaws are starting to sit in pairs and get all snuggly - they know too ;-)

It's only a matter of time before Mr Grumpy, Anklebiter and the rest of their Canadian* friends are up to their old tricks by the canal again...

I’m not sure I’ve ever been as excited about the onset of spring. It’s keeping me going at the moment. I forgot the blue tits in the tree outside the in-laws. They had one thing in mind and it wasn’t starring on the front page of the next RSPB magazine 💙

I hope the boys will finish the cladding on my new building and can fit my two bird boxes this coming week!

I had a lovely visit to RSPB Saltholme where I got to see lots of wetland foragers including loads of lapwings, curlew, dunlin, golden plover, a hiding snipe and a first for me - a pintail.

Thanks to a brilliant hide guide who made spotting and identifying these a lot easier.

That’s a great picture Scribbs. Did you hear the widgeon (in the background) whistling? They make a lovely sound that’s as evocative of wintery wetlands as a curlew or a redshank
