Sorry, DT. Not sure if it's age or numptyitis caused it.

Someone posted a photo of a waxwing on my Twitter feed yesterday. Never actually seen one myself.

I spotted a small flock from my upstairs landing window at the old house. We must be due a good winter soon

Saw a snipe today on the same city-edge marsh where I saw a water rail a couple of weeks ago. I've seen one there before, but not for a good few years.

I have seen waxwings four or five times, flocks of 15 or so in very ordinary locations, and a solitary one in my apple tree on Christmas day about five years ago.

Waxwings remain illusive here. Not for want of trying! My garden is full of "bird feeders" I planted over the years. Mind, they may be active in the food forest, which I can only see when I am actually there, which isn't all that much in winter... I could ask the chickens as it is their domain
