I don’t even know where my binoculars are Titmice and robins very vocal this morning. I really fancied mistle thrush but none heard

I've just had a family group of 8 LTTs through my feeders. I could hear them from inside the house.

In the past, I always assumed back and front Robin were both male and each attracted a mate in Spring, as most years I have two nesting pairs. Now I know that my garden hosts many more than that I am going to pay closer attention. Some are tamer than others so I assume the tame ones are my regular Summer guests, as the know me so well...

I think most uk robins will be paired up by now, in established territories, but there may be Scandinavian birds about. And there will always be young birds trying to establish territories, replacing older weaker birds.

My understanding was the foreign robins, coming over here eating our worms, tended to have slightly more orange breasts. Is this not so?

We still seem to the usual winter overload of them. I must have seen or heard well over 20 on this morning's run. Though of course doesn't preclude local birds being paired up and ready to go!

I've found that the slight colour difference only works for me when they're in close proximity. Plus as I understand it the Scandinavian migration has the effect of pushing domestic birds south so it doesn't always show up non-local birds.
