Lambs!?!

We’ve just had a Sparrowhawk in the garden - started on the neighbour’s garage, moved to the top of the gate by our feeder..... the Went In to the bush where all the sparrows and robins nest by the feeder..... emerged a couple of minutes later and flew into the one big tree we have in the alleyway at the back looking a bit wet and bedraggled.

goosander and ravens on today's hobble; I preferred yesterday's dipper and bullfinches. Plus the ever present jackdaws, pigeons, tits, and Canadians, of course.

I'm pleased to say that the female great spotted woodpecker I've seen a few times recently has now become a daily occurrence in our garden, feasting on the peanuts and suet pellets. Fortunately it seems to have no problem with the squirrel-proof feeders we got recently (outer cage types) - which, equally fortunately, seem to have finally frustrated the voracious squirrels who were eating us out of house and home.
