Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

ar - pheasants must rate as one of the most stupid of the bird species.
Prefer to run in a straight line for 100s of yards instead of a side turn to safety.

I went to Keyhaven today, not too much about even though it was low tide but did see a few curlew and lapwing and a solitary tern diving.

Pheasants are definitely stupid. When Ralph-springer was younger and quicker, most of our local ones were short of a tail feather or two as they would run away and try to fly at springer-face height along the path rather than duck through the hedge or fly upwards.

Late evening run down Dovedale and found a Dipper along the usual stretch by the boardwalks. As long as it's not too busy I rarely seem to fail to find at least one at that point.

I fear the swifts may have departed. Perfect evening for them but none about. :(

On the plus side, a grass snake slithered across the path while I was running yesterday. And we have two wren's nests with chicks being fed, one at the front of the house and one in the back garden.

Barn owl on this evening’s walk. They appear to be as territorial as Peak dippers

I love it when you know where to find a favourite bird DT. Sadly former my go to spot for Barn Owls is no more. Their numbers have crashed round here in the last ten years or so. Quite a rarity now :-(

Swifts have been eerily quiet here for two days.... not sight nor sound.... our last sighting was a group of about 20 a couple of evenings ago....

I saw a solitary swift last night. First one in over two weeks.
