I did a run on my local riverside route yesterday, for the first time in 3 weeks. It's all much quieter now, far less birdsong, which is rather sad (although there was still a sedge warbler giving occasional bursts). I scared the life out of a cormorant - I had stopped to look in the river and it surfaced from its dive right by me, took fright at me in my bright running gear and took off with a mad flapping of wings on the water.

We went up to Keighley reservoir last night (it’s not actually that close to Keighley and is surrounded by moorland). A handful of geese on the water but no waders at all. Loads of flighty mipit on the moor looking ready to move on. One mystery bird seen. A fleeting glance of what I think might have been a male merlin

I think we may have your waders DT, plenty of curlew and small waders on the river last night, too far away to identify the smaller ones but the wader calls are noticeably back.

One for Steve 45, I spooked a flock of wood pigeons out of a hay field this morning, at a rough guess a couple of hundred. I'm wondering whether they get together in smaller flocks before to journey to South Wales for your mass migration each year?

They also spooked a large flock of goldfinches which was lovely to see

The pair of black swans from Marin Mere [it is believed] had returned to the smaller lake in the Crosby Coastal Park last night. I counted around 30 Whooper swan adults there too. [stock photo below]

Willow Tit back on the feeder this morning for the first time in quite a while. :-) They just disappear when they've got an active nest.

J2R - I live in Waterloo, about 5 miles N of Liverpool. As well as Crosby Marina & boating lakes, there are other lakes within the Liverpool Freeport, not normally accessible to the public.
