Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Some great pictures here :-)

I'm doing the virtual Lakeland 100 this week and as motivation/distraction I'm keeping a list of all the birds I see or hear on my runs. Managed 28 different species on this morning's effort, not a bad start :-)

If you have any curlew left make the most of them. Ours have gone I think :-( I did see one solitary golden plover up on the watershed between us and you last night though

Just saw 2 buzzards riding the thermals above my house keeping a very close eye on some house martins having an evening feed.

Love those kingisher pictures. Incredibly jealous that you have that from your window.

Stunning kingfisher pics FDNB, I am jealous!
I saw 'my' kingfisher again tonight. One zip downriver then back with a fish, perched on a rock for a few seconds, then into the nest hole. When it emerged it plunged into the river, flew down river a few yards, plunged again and repeated. The action was not a hunting type dive, and appeared more of a splashy wash. I have no idea if this is typical or why it felt the need! Answers on post, please!

Also love the dolphins, so great to see!

Thanks folks, I’ve probably seen a kingfisher by the pond only 3 or 4 times since we’ve lived here and first time it’s sat somewhere convenient for photographs from a window.
