They’ve been leaving for weeks according to various vis miggers
It’s all about the first waxwing, or skein of pinkies now

Sure, DT, but we haven't been having that discussion here, have we, the one the nation has its eyes on?

Surelynot
Had a drive this morning to meet some friends for a run in one of the local forests. On the 10 mile-ish drive I saw five red kites circling the road all in different locations.
Didn't see a single one on the way back, of course, but what a lovely start to the weekend.

Saw more swifts that I've seen all year over our house yesterday, presumably last feeding before heading off.
Highlight of the year was a view of the young Osprey and one of the parents at Brenig this morning. Never normally see them on my route but did my first group run for a few months and the lads I was with wanted to cut it short. Was slightly miffed until the shortcut gave us an amazing sight of one of the parents heading back to the platform and presumably feeding the youngster. needless to say I'm now more than happy with the shorter route

8 swifts screaming through the garden over the last couple of days. They've also been landing under the eaves so hopefully scoping out nesting sites for next year?!
