Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Possibly steve, I did manage to get outside with my camera, but when I finally managed to get an angle, it disappeared through the fence. I'm keeping an eye on the feeder as sure it will be back. Want to make sure unknown whatnot is, before i take any action of removing the seed for a while with it being a residential area.

Common Tern, WW, chiffs, lots of tit fledglings, cygnets, tufties, goldfinch, m & f bullfinch.... we finally went to where we usually hear cuckoos this morning.... and...... no 😔

However, popped into my parentals garden on the way home and were treated to a goldcrest right by where we were sitting 😀😀 we were hiding under a big green brolly and think this meant it didn’t really know we were there 😀

Our male blackbird uses the fat ball feeder. The female doesn't though.

YP, our blackbirds are the same. Male will land on it or the tray next to it and eat away. Female wont but will fly and try and get some in the split second its next to it.

We saw the most swift I’ve seen all year yesterday afternoon up near the Pennine Way above Ponden. Maybe thirty birds. We also saw what we all thought was a cuckoo. It flew off as I was getting my binoculars out

Had a bike ride yesterday morning and heard a commotion in a field. As I was approaching I heard an oystercatcher sounding a bit distressed. I spotted an adult oystercatcher chasing a crow away only to see a fledgeling on the cycle path running to get out of my way. I've never seen a fledgeling oystercatcher before.

Out later in some nearby woodland and heard a woodpecker and my first cuckoo of summer. There were lots of fast-moving small birds in the trees that were difficult to see. Alas, my recognition of bird song remains poor so they will remain a mystery.

Stonechats on the Pennine Way on Sunday. Noisy little things! Plus a tufted duck and a very noisy cuckoo in the woods really going for it!

We usually get a fair bit of birdlife in our garden. Parakeets, robins, jays, blue tits and magpies.

There is a decent sized holly tree where we have the birdfeeder on a broken off branch stump about eight feet up. It's great to watch but there is a squirrel that is always up there - usually doing shuttle runs between the birdfeeder and its nest. This squirrel keeps the birds away as a result and the feeder is supposed to be squirrel-proof! I suppose it is a case of finding a better feeder but one which is not too large either.
