Definitely a "fancy" pigeon, or a feral cross with one. High flier or German owl or something?

Merry Christmas & Happy New G(rrr)
We were trying to work out if the pretty, pearl coloured, small pigeon like things were wood pigeons, to be told by a local, country type that they were actually ring-necked doves. Does this sound right? Very pretty they are and they don't frighten the robins, tits and finches from the feeders as much as the magpies and bigger pigeon things.

We now have a buzzard that sits on one of our fence posts quite regularly (there are up to a dozen within the mile of our place - I know they are quite common now, but amazing to watch as they take flight.) And while we have lost one of our barn owls (she flew into an electricity line, the daft thing. My wife was quite upset. Put her in a box with a blanket and kept in the warm barn, but her wing was torn to bits and SSPCA said they wouldn't bother saving her as she'd not fly again. Sad.) But the 2 chicks and the dad (presumably) are still about, we think. He makes less noise than she used to do. Again, does that sound right? :-) G

Went for a walk out on the local marshes yesterday and was delighted to see a kingfisher. I've seen them there in summer but I'm glad they're still around.

We have several LTT in the house now after spotting (then buying) two lamps with them printed on yesterday. As Stef my wife said, ‘all we need now is a curlew on the mantelpiece hisband’ heart

Thanks jacdaw. That was probably a mishear on my wife / my behalf rather than local country type getting it wrong. They probably said collared. I'll go look that up now. Thanks. Pretty though, aren't they? :-) G
