Thanks guys. It’s confusing for me. I’m going to stick with downloading routes I think as assume they will be ‘legal’.

Depends where you're downloading routes from hp. Many of the komoot ones round here (New Forest) are not 'legal'. Walking - it's fairly easy, any path (green) on an OS map and then any of the 'shaded area'. Cycling - any of the bridleways, (long green dashes) (*although I've nevr cycled there!) Or when you know roughly where you'll be, ask here, you'll get plently of recommendations, |

Worth looking at routes via a guide book or online download too if you want to keep it safe. Most paths in the popular places are obvious. |

Walking wise, as long as you are on open land, see ramblers.org.uk you can walk where you like. In practise, in the Lakes, when you're above 250 metres (sometimes a lot less altitude) you can go where you please. |

That route you posted says the old railway line is closed, but it is now open again.
