I assumed that it wouldn't have been a simple climb up from Wasdale 🙂 Quite a tough little trek from Langdale.

Not yet, he decided to pop up Scafell instead.

Sounds great, but in my world 'pop up' and 'Scafell' do not belong in the same sentence ;-)

Haha! I can tell you a story about quickly popping up Scafell before heading back home...

Popping up Scafell is fine. It's all the bits before and after, on the way back, that make it hard work.

I presume that we're talking about Scafell Pike here? I bet very few people "just" go to Sca Fell, if you do it from anywhere other than Wasdale/Eskdale it's a bit of a pain (Broad Stand, Foxes, WWT etc)

I did Foxes Tarn to get from the big Pike to Scafell. And then bagged Slight Side. Dropped down to the Esk and returned to Seathwaite via Esk Hause.

I regularly just go to Scafell, as it's always so much quieter (empty normally) compared to the Pike.

From Wha House in Eskdale (or The Woolpack) via Slight Side and back via Burnmoor Tarn, the Brook House and along the Elk is one of my favourite Lakes long summer days.

Can anyone recommend a book for planning/recording Wainwrights?
Son1 starts his new job NE of Penrith after the bank holiday and is talking of trying to cover them all over the next few years (his Wetherlam horseshoe last week was a start on this). There's a few books on Amazon but difficult to judge what's good and what's not. It's his birthday at the beginning of October so this is one idea I've got.

Are there still Wainwright log books available? Mr AL has those. They look like the guide books?
